The tool i used is called flickr. Its a online place you can publish photos, and have them under your name so no one can steal your photos. It gives rookie photographers a chance to publish their work.
I used the tool during our provincail vollyball coverage. I uploaded photos of the games so everyone who wasnt here had a chance to see what was going on. the content i included would be a photo and a small captian either the players name or persons name, if they allowed it, or the team. also took picture of opening cerimonies and stuff, so id just say what was going on.
This is a usful program, its nice to have a place to publish photos. It was a good tool for the vollyball project because it was accessable to everyone. pros would be that its easy to use, and you get your work out there. A con would be that its not a safe as it states. You can steel steel of the site.

blog #4 freedom of speech in journalism
Basically, this article talks about a university watching their players/ athletes Facebook pages, and other social networking sites. The universities are worried this public display of what their players do give them a bad name. They have policies in there handbook stating, they athletes and students should not post such photos and comments.
This article doesn’t relate to my life at the moment. One day I do believe either I clean up my networking life or just get rid of it. I’m just a high school kid at the moment so I don’t really care what I post up there. I don’t play sports nor does my employer have Facebook to check up on what I say. If our school came out with a policy like this it would be pointless.
I agree with them, that health and priority wise that players shouldn’t be taking part in drinking and drug’s, but there human and can make their own choices. There’s such thing as a law called freedom of speech, as long as what they say isn’t threatening there’s nothing the schools can do about it. Not posting something on the internet isn’t going to stop something from getting around. People will still see you out drinking. Also people talk to each other, if there angry enough to put it on the internet there angry enough to say it to another person. What are schools going to do next kick someone out for talking to someone else.

Journalistic ethics should be important to journalists Because if they don’t follow codes and ethics then how can we trust them, it also gives them a bad name we they don’t care about the people. They should have to consider weither its fair or not They have a responsibility to not say a lie. They have to report the truth. Journalist should not be able to just say anything if I could offend people, or get somebody in trouble. Also i think the person has a right to know what’s going to be put into the paper. theres also some things that should leave out. Reporters and the interveiw subject should have a strictly business relationship, you shouldn’t know the person on a personal level because that but a bias opinion on it.

I have been informed that before the internet got popular ( way back in the day ) there was this thing called a newspaper. Sadly this will be what my child will say. We as a society have noticed how much easier it is to go on the internet, or to watch tv, text message, or a simple phone call. Information is at the tips of our fingers or the tips of our tongue at all times. The main question is should we care if there’s not a news paper? Will people miss the news paper? In my opinion its not fair to everyone to assume that newspapers are not read. I know a lot of people who read news papers who will be in shock if there’s no longer one to read. Is it fair to assume that everyone knows how to use a computer, or everyone can afford a tv. Yes its faster to just log onto your computer and click the internet, but can you trust the source, do you realize how easy it is to put up information on the computer? Is it safe to let go, and put news papers in the past? or is it already to late?

Say you open up your newspaper or you click the internet, and horrible graphic images come up of your friend who recently died in and accident, how would you feel. Sadly we struggle with journalist freedom. Where should we draw the line? journalist should have the freedom to inform the people of the truth, of the facts. I think it should be there responsibility to judge what is fair to the people tho, they should have enough judgment to know how the stuff they write/ show is going to affect the audience. Freedom of the press should not be unlimited. We should be able to trust in the press (at least about natural/ or man-made disasters) internet press can be as free as they want to be, there’s nothing stopping them. But being in a small community where everyone knows everyone, i think that we care a little more concerned of what we post. Be your own judge.

1.What freedoms should journalists have? Why?
Journalists have the freedom to make interview, to have protection and to have a big amount of money that they get. Public interest guides all Journalists decisions.
2.Should journalistic freedom be unlimited?
Yes, because if there are many crimes so there are many media, journalists that covered the story so they need the rights to protect their freedom, to broadcast or publish the story for the people so they know what happens and all media are important to gather information.
3.What responsibilities go with these freedoms?
They are responsible for the story that they take or publish because some crimes has to be private that they can’t publish or taking picture because of the privacy of the family, and they are responsible not to tell the whole story if it’s a big crime.
4.What are some examples of how journalistic freedom has been violated, either in Canada or abroad?
They were killed, arrested, kidnapped, physically attacked or threaten, media censored, journalists fled their country, bloggers and netizens arrested, physically attacked, countries affected by Internet censorship by criminal gangs, armed groups, religious organization or state agents

In Canada, there is no news about the journalist killed or arrested because Canada respect all the Journalists and our community, they had a freedom to interview, take a picture or to publish it but they had to know the principles or rules that they always remember. In our school, we had journalism subject that learn about the techniques or important things that we used if we are going to be a journalists and sometimes we had a activities to interview other students or teachers but we don’t need to have a permit that we are going to interview someone so we have a freedoms to do that.

Major New Study Shatters Stereotypes about Teens and Video Games
Many teens play computer, console, or cell phone games so the Pew Internet & American Life Project had a survey and it’s a project of Pew Research Center and supported by the MacArthur Foundation.
They survey about 1,102 youth ages 12-17 and many American teens play some kind of games like action, adventure, racing, puzzle, sports and etc. and it says that 99% of boys are gamers and 94% of girls are reported that they play games. And some teens play violent video games, some teens playing games where they learn about a problem in society, 32% of youth 12-16 play games that are listed inappropriate only for adult and 32% says one of their favorite games is rated Mature or adults only.
When I read this article, I think that many teens are addicted so I think some of them are addicted and it’s bad for us because it affects our education and I experience when I have a PSP and I wake up in the morning to play my games and I’m not going to eat breakfast because of the games and also it affects our body, for example our eyes the radiation of the screen in PSP direct it in our eyes. But now, I stop to play games if I have school but I play only weekend so we have a time management to play or study.

Because journalist can report HARD NEWS STORY and it’s based on the story if it’s ethics or soft news story. Journalist has to show what happen on that place and to know the story on the community. But they have to know the privacy of the victims or suspects on that story.
2.)What rules of conduct should journalists observe when they report on a story?
They have to sure that his/her story is good for the people or if it’s ethics, they have to confirm it to the people who are on the story that they are reporting about him if it’s ok to the public or not. And also if it’s private for the people, they have to change the name of the victims or the suspects for the privacy of the family.
3.)Should a journalist tell everything he or she knows?
No, because if it’s in a private for the public so they don’t have to say the whole story like the name of the suspects because if the suspects known that the police are hunting him/her, he/ she is going to hide in the other places so it’s important to know of the journalists.

Because we all know that technology invented computer, television, cellphone to gather information about the news and it easier than reading news in newspaper.

Yeah, because our parents or grandparents use it when the gadgets are not yet invented and it’s important for them and to the people who work in the company that produce many newspaper and if no one didn’t buy newspaper some company will close because they didn’t pay all the workers.

Because some of the information that we read are edited from the real story of the news and the advantage of getting news on the web, we can easily gather information because when you search in the computer the news that you like you can easily find it and read.

Blog Assignment #5: Using and Evaluating a News 2.0 Tool
News 2.0 has made the formation online communities easy and inexpensive. It changed the old News 1.0 to a new one and they make a website for the people who want chat or communicate other people in Facebook and it have 200 million users. YouTube, Flickr can edit picture and you can share videos from this website. And this big changed, Journalists have lost their job or they ignore because we can do it by clicking the mouse and by using chord that connect to your computer and also you have internet to do it that’s the big changed.
If we have a project it’s really important to used News 2.0 to gather information like when you’re going to get pictures, getting videos to your project. I used News 2.0 because we have to use websites like Flickr, YouTube, and other websites that helps me to do my project compare to News 1.0 because it’s easier and fast to get pictures or videos.
It’s very important because if I’m going to create a magazine I have to get pictures from Flickr and I need more knowledge to create a beautiful magazine so I’m going to watch video from YouTube and to have a beautiful design or even the newspaper so it’s important to use it.
